A VOICE PROGRAM

At Advance Prep Academy, we firmly believe that every student is uniquely valued and cherished. We are committed to providing a skill-based, real-world education tailored to children with diverse learning styles, including those who are gifted or face learning challenges.

To fulfill this commitment, we have established the A VOICE Program (Achieving Visual Opportunity in Career Education). This specialized initiative is designed to empower students by addressing their unique academic and career development needs.

The A VOICE Program aims to:

  • Develop Real-World Skills: The program integrates career-focused learning opportunities, equipping students with the practical tools necessary for success beyond the classroom.

  • A VOICE Reading Intervention

    • Designed to assist students struggling with foundational reading skills, this intervention program uses evidence-based strategies to improve literacy and comprehension.

    • Students receive focused instruction in small group settings, fostering growth and confidence in their reading abilities.

  • A VOICE Gifted Pull-Out Program

    • Created for students identified as gifted, this program offers opportunities to explore advanced curriculum and engage in creative, critical thinking activities.

    • Gifted students attend specialized sessions outside of their regular classroom to delve into higher-level learning experiences tailored to their abilities.

  • Academic Accommodation Plans

    • Individualized plans are developed to provide additional accommodations and modifications for students within the classroom.

    • These plans ensure students with unique learning needs can thrive in a supportive and accessible environment while meeting academic goals.

  • Tutoring Before and After School

    • To support students who need extra academic help, tutoring sessions are available before and after school hours.

Comprehensive Support Services for Students in the A VOICE Program

    • Conduct a thorough review of your child’s past educational records, evaluations, and services.

    • Use this data to create a tailored Academic/Career Plan that includes:

      • Student-specific goals.

      • Accommodations and modifications.

      • Recommendations for future academic and career pathways.

  2. Academic Achievement Assessments

    • Perform detailed assessments to evaluate your child’s academic progress.

    • Implement ongoing progress monitoring to ensure consistent growth and development.

  3. Evaluation and Testing

    • Recommend further evaluations to address potential learning challenges.

    • Provide information about suggested testing options to support a deeper understanding of your child’s needs.

  4. Interventions and Supports

    • Deliver necessary academic interventions and supports within the A VOICE program.

    • Offer targeted assistance to address specific learning gaps and challenges.

  5. Access to Resources

    • Provide access to e-textbooks when available, enhancing learning flexibility and accessibility.

  6. Class Scheduling

    • Tailor class schedules to your child’s needs, typically ranging from two to three classes.

    • Ensure that the schedule aligns with the goals set in the Academic/Career Plan.

  7. Regular Communication

    • Maintain consistent communication with your child’s teachers to ensure a coordinated approach to learning.

    • Provide regular updates to parents about progress, goals, and any adjustments to the Academic/Career Plan.

Class Placement Process:
Placement decisions for students enrolled in the A VOICE Program are carefully considered to ensure their needs are met. The process involves:

  • Parent Input: We value the insight and perspective of parents, who know their children best.

  • Teacher Recommendations: Current and former teachers provide valuable feedback on the student’s strengths, challenges, and progress.

  • Previous and Current Testing: Academic and developmental assessments play a crucial role in determining the most suitable placement.

  • Grades and Academic History: Past academic performance helps guide appropriate class assignments.

Final Placement Decisions:
Placement decisions are made collaboratively by the Student Services Team in conjunction with the Campus Principal. This ensures that each student is placed in a setting that fosters their academic, social, and personal development.
